TERMS OF SERVICE

BetterScum is a community-run server for the game SCUM. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Gamepires or Jagex, the makers and publishers of SCUM.

What these Terms cover

These Terms of Service govern your use of the betterscum.com website, its account system, and the BetterScum Discord server. Conduct inside the game itself — raiding, combat, base building, and so on — is governed separately by our server rules, not by this document.

Accounts are optional

You do not need an account, and you do not need to register, to connect to and play on the SCUM server — it's open to anyone. Registering an account through the perks page is only required if you want the Verified Discord role and the perks that come with it (priority notifications, giveaway eligibility, and similar). It's optional, not a gate to playing.

Age requirement

You must be 18 or older to register an account or connect to the server. This server runs unfiltered voice and text chat with no content moderation beyond the zero-tolerance rules in our rules.

Account termination

We can suspend or terminate your account, in-game access, or Discord membership at staff discretion for violating the server rules — this includes things like cheating, exploiting, harassment, and the other zero-tolerance items listed there. We don't need to give advance notice for these.

No warranty on uptime or continuity

BetterScum is run on a best-effort basis. We don't guarantee the server will be online at any particular time, and we may change server settings, wipe schedules, the raid window, event schedules, or shut the server down entirely, at any time and without notice. Nothing here creates a guarantee of continued service.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the server evolves. Continued use of the site, account system, or Discord after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
